The Work We Do

Every day tens of thousands of parents across California rely on child care providers to supply their children with stimulating early education and quality care while they go about the business of earning their daily bread.

As child care providers, we look after infants, toddlers, and school-aged children and are in a position to profoundly impact a child’s ability to learn and succeed in school. We are crucial to children’s intellectual, emotional, interpersonal, and social development.

Unfortunately, many still fail to appreciate the unique role we play. That is why child care providers from across the state have come together to form Child Care Providers United of California, a union for child care providers by child care providers.

By coming together, we can raise awareness of the issues we face as providers and win the respect we deserve. Our goal is to lay the foundation for a more perfect union by raising the quality and standards in our profession through professional development and legislative advocacy aimed at improving our compensation, access to health insurance, and working conditions.

We believe every child deserves the best early education and care. Working together with advocates, parents, and public officials, we are building a movement to increase public investment in early education and care; streamline state financing and administrative systems; and expand access to quality early education and care for all families who work for a living.
